Archives Be Damned ! Dave Schultz Pummels Brad Park
FanDome's Best of the Day
The Mouth provides a classic weekend Treasure Trove showing of the Rangers/Flyers Semifinal Game three held at Madison Square Garden on April 25th 1974. The game is significant on several levels. The... game captures the Flyers Broadstreet Bullies days in full throttle and it also conveys how intense this rivalry so much so that extra NYC policeman were added especially for this game.
This particular contest and series was an incredibly physical series. Historically Ranger fans think that the Rangers got pushed around but after actually watching the games The Rangers gave it back to the Flyers physically pretty well. It really was the lack of production of the Blue Shirts GAG line that did them in.
But with that said two incidents stand out from this series. The first came in the deciding Game Seven when Dave Schultz used Dale Rolfeās face as a punching bag and no Ranger on the ice came to his aide. The second is an incident that happened in this game we see here when Dave Schultz went after and fought Rangers All-Star Defenseman Brad Park.
The Mouth provides 10 minute of game footage direct from his archives for the Ranger Crisis Fans to enjoy. The historical significance in Range history of this heated Game seven series is a great facet of the video. more>>

Wow! that was fantastic - thanks Mouth. I miss that type of hockey so much! Not that the game today isn't great, but old time can't be beat. And there's nothing wrong with being a homer, although you can't imagine them saying all that with a straight face!
They definitely had a persecution complex announcing for a team that took every dirty intimidating advantage on the ice. My favorite quote was "unlicenced mayhem" sounds like the title of my first book.
Listen to those Flyers announcers. Hearing them you'd think the Broad Street Bullies were just a bunch of misunderstood fellows.
